Career Planning for Literary Artists

Andrea Kleine is a writer and a performance artist with decades of experience in the New York City arts community. As a former member of the NYFA Fiscal Sponsorship team, she collaborated with artists across disciplines. She is also a freelance editor, writing coach, and workshop instructor.

Andrea is the author of the critically acclaimed novels, Calf, a Publishers Weekly “Best Fiction Book of 2015,” and Eden, a finalist for the Publishing Triangle Award in LGBTQ fiction. Her work includes fiction, essays, performances, and most recently, films. She is a five-time Macdowell fellow, a NYFA fellow, and the recipient of numerous grants and awards. Her recent evening-length performance works have been commissioned by The Chocolate Factory Theater and New York Live Arts. Her feature film, The End Is Not What I Thought It Would Be, created in isolation during the pandemic, premiered in 2022 and is streaming now.
